AbstractThe present study examined the effectiveness of EMDR approachby Francine Shapiro on primary insomnia. Causal comparative design was used for testing research hypotheses. Population consisted of 60 patients with primary insomnia, ranging in age from 25 to 50 years, in degree from diploma to master’s, and consisting of both sexes (30 females and 30 males), who were selected using purposive sampling. In order to classify and analyze test data, T-test and covariance wereused. Data analysis showed that the pretest and posttest EMDR treatment group showed significant differences in the effectiveness of this approach. Moreover, significant difference was found between pretest and posttest in the cognitive-behavioral group, indicating the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy in treating primary insomnia. However, there was no significant difference between CBT and EMDR groups. In conclusion, the effectiveness of EMDR therapy and CBT may be considered equal.

Background: Increased prevalence in Methamphetamine Abuse and effective treatment of addiction to this substance is one of major problems for clinisians of this domain.
Abjectives: The aim of the study consisted of evaluating effectiveness of cognitive- behavior therapy on relapse rate, craving, attitude and self-restraint Addicts in Methamphetamine abuse treatment.
Methods: in this research 36 patients diagnosed as suffering Methamphetamine dependence (according to DSM-IV- TR criteria) were randomly divided into 2 groups of 18, one as experimental group and the other as control group. Members of experimental group were undergone individual therapy for 12 sessions. They completed Structured Clinical Interview for DSM (SCID II), Attitute change test, daily report form of craving and relapse rate before initiation of therapy, in 6th and 12th session and 90 days after termination of the therapy. Control group received no CBT during the study. Data collected were analysed by analysis of variance with repeated measures & dependent t test. Results: There is statistical significant diference between means of two groups in all stages of therapy. In follow-up stage experimental group (CBT treated) show higher abstinance, lower craving and relapse and attitude change to methamphetamine. Hypthoses of research accepted. Conclusion: The results revealed that cognitive- behavioural therapy was effective in reducing craving and relapse rate, increasing abstinanse & changing attitude (mind regarding substances).Then, CBT is effective in treatment of Methamphetamine Abuse.

This study compares the effectiveness of two Behavioral Approach (BA) and Adler-Dreikurs parent training approach on improving family environment components. For this purpose, Barkley program (BA) and STEP (Adler-Dreikurs approach) were utilized. Five schools were selected randomly from region 7 in Tehran and 60 parents whose 7-11 years old boys had received the highest scores on Child Symptom Inventory (CSI-4) were randomly assigned into Behavioral, Adlerian and control groups. For data collection, in addition to CSI-4, the Family Environment Scale (FES. In order to analyze the data, Analysis of Covariance test, two-way ANOVA and Tukey and Bonferroni Correction follow up tests were used. Analysis of research findings showed in Adlerian group, control and conflict components of family environment reduced, and intellectual-cultural orientation and moral-religious emphasis increased. But in Behavioral group just conflict reduced. Considering the role of family environment on the formation of conduct disorder in children, indicating the effectiveness of Adler most important way in adopting this method, therapeutic strategies are appropriate for conduct disorder.
